Earlier this month you might have read about the two construction workers involved in an incident at a construction site at Carnival City in Brakpan. A concrete slab fell and killed the one worker, and injured the other. The Department of Labour halted construction immediately, and served the construction company with a prohibition notice, stopping all work until a formal investigation is complete.

My friend Rachelle does a lot of online dating. She’s so busy with her career, she literally hasn’t got time to doll herself up and go out to meet people. Health and safety representative inspections or workplace inspections fulfill almost the same function as a mini or 3-minute risk assessment: you PRO-ACTIVELY identify possible hazards and risks in the working environment and give your employees the opportunity to act timely before an actual incident occurs.
