Labour Bulletin Archive August 2010

“Strike strains Zuma's alliances”, “Cosatu calls on workers to intensify strike action”, “Union leaders warn about exams” - These are just three of the headlines from the news dominating the media at the moment...

The CCMA sure knows how to light up the news headlines. In a Business Report article I read, two junior officials want their jobs back after they were fired for exposing irregular spending by the CCMA.

I mentioned last week how the Labour Minister is taking no prisoners when it comes to complying with the Employment Equity Act. You’ve got just over a month to ensure your report and plan is perfect! I don’t want you to get into trouble, and I certainly don’t want you to pay the R900 000 fine

In one of my bulletins recently I told you about the Labour Court case of Lottering and others v Stellenbosch Municipality, which deals with resignation. Since then I keep hearing about employers who have issues around employees who resign. So I thought I’d give you a few more tips to deal with employees who’ve resigned.
