- Did you know you can claim input tax on this?
Dear reader,
Picture it...you’re away at a conference on business. A potential client wants to meet you for drinks and suggests the swanky new bar down the road from your hotel. You really need his business but you’ll also need Sol Kerzner’s bank balance to afford just a single cocktail at the venue he’s suggested.
But, it’s in your business’s best interests so you agree to meet him.
He cuts the evening short to prepare for the conference but suggests you meet again the next evening (at the same bar!) to finalise your discussion.
You’re not sure you can afford the expense a second night in a row...
Did you know you can claim input tax on this?
If you (or any of your employees) consume alcohol while away from home, on business for more than one night, you can claim input tax on this expense!
Do you know there are 15 other such business expenses you can claim input tax on?
10 hours overtime a week is the maximum!
Winter’s officially here. I don’t know about you, but my brain, and body, tends to function in slow motion during these cold months. While some may see this as laziness, I’m convinced it’s a good way to conserve energy.
I’ve got just the energy-saver for you; a way to address all those niggling labour and HR questions without exerting too much effort.
Did you know you can’t require or allow any employee to work more than 10 hours overtime a week?
What about the answers to such questions as:
• How much sick leave are employees entitled to in their first six months of employment?
• When can you ask for a sick leave certificate?
• When are employees entitled to family responsibility leave?
• What is the maximum amount of overtime an employee can work?
• Do you have to pay all employees for overtime?
• When must you update your employment contracts?
We have them, and you won’t have to risk leaving the confines of your heated office!
Yours sincerely,
Lucelle Buchler
