Advertisers will pay to turn you into a human billboard
Money Making Insider | 26 April, 2010 | Hot Topics:
Ask yourself this: Would you
consider becoming a “human billboard”?
consider becoming a “human billboard”?I had to think about this one too…
All enterprises have been affected by globalisation and rapid technological change. The competition in the marketplace has meant they’ve had to come up with innovation marketing strategies.
One of the key marketing strategies is Guerrilla Marketing.
This exploits every opportunity to create as much awareness of their company as possible. Essentially, the more innovative a company’s advertising campaign, the more effective it is. And that is where you fit in.
As a concept that hasn’t taken off yet in South Africa, the idea of temporarily tattooing one’s body parts with a company logo in return for payment may seem offensive.
Online casino GoldenPalace.com paid boxer Bernard Hopkins $100,000 (approximately R776,000 today) to don a temporary tattoo of the casino’s name on his back, during his championship fight against Felix Trinidad. And web hosting and software development company, CI Host, paid a man named Jim Nelson to become their human billboard. Jim was paid $7,000 (approximately R54,320) to have a permanent tattoo of the company’s logo placed on the back of his head.
OK. Don’t worry. You don’t need to go this far to cash in on this new marketing trend.
Here are a few examples of different ways to exploit your personal property...
* PeddlePushers is exactly what the name implies (billboards on bicycles). The company offers advertising services for small to medium enterprises. It’s mobile and targeted directly at the intended audience. If you’ve got a bicycle, old or new, you can offer your services to Peddle- Pushers. Visit www.peddlepushers.co.za for more information.
* Alternatively, contact companies such as eZee Solutions. They offer advertising services such as vehicle branding: From removable stickers and magnetic signs for vehicles, to full vehicle wraps. This way you can use your vehicle to gain maximum exposure. Visit www.ezeemarketing.co.za for more information.
* Many advertising companies require high traffic volume areas to install their billboards. If your home is in a central area, you can offer the use of your walls (for a price of course) as advertising space to outdoor advertising agencies. The ADreach Group of Companies is an outdoor advertising agency that specialises in mini billboards. Mini billboards are a relatively unobtrusive form of advertising as they are 1800mm x 2900mm and about 2.5m high. Visit www.streetpoleads.co.za to learn more.
* If your garden is situated near a high traffic volume area, you can rent garden space to advertisers who require places to park mobile billboards for certain times. See www.outdooradvertising.co.za for more information.
