Dear fellow taxpayer,

SARS has just announced there will be new income tax forms for the 2009 tax season.

Have your say

We, the public, have been invited to give our comments and feedback on this new form on the SARS website, so take a look on the home page under “Latest News” and have your say:www.sars.org.za

Look for some significant changes

One of the biggest changes is the Tax Return Request form (ITRR) will now include your details from your previous tax return. This means if your tax affairs haven’t changed since last year, you’ll only have to sign the ITRR and submit it.

SARS tightens security measures

On your income return itself, you will need to add additional verification information under banking details for security purposes. SARS have also introduced a new medical code (4040) to distinguish between contributions made via an employer (4005) and those contributions not reflected on your IRP5.

Anything else?

There are only minor amendments to the IT12TR, IT12EI and IT14 forms.

That’s it from me.

Regards,

Jackie
