Do you know the new changes to COIDA?

Do you know the new changes to COIDA?
Inside this issue...
- Change to the COIDA forms
- Cover all your labour bases
Dear reader,
The Labour Minister has given notice to amend the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA). Here’s one major change you can expect…
Change to the COIDA forms
The forms you and your employee must complete if he suffers an accident, injury or illness related to work are going to change. You can find examples of the new forms (W.C14, W.C15 and W.C15F) on the Department of Labour’s website.
You must familiarise yourself with these new versions so you complete the correct forms when you report an incident. You don’t want the COID Commissioner throwing out your application, and your employee receiving zero compensation: he’d be well within his rights to sue you for damages!
Expect 3 changes to the Unemployment Insurance Fund Act (UIFA) too...
The Labour minister also proposes amendments to the UIFA. These will affect three key definitions, and are still open for public comment. If you want to know what these are, and to offer your opinion on the proposal, check out the forthcoming issue of Labour Watch Newsletter, which will show you exactly what to do. If you haven’t yet subscribed do so here...
In the name of safety,
