Inside this issue...
- Does your risk assessment have the following?
Dear reader,
It’s always good to be an H&S subscriber, but this week it’s great. You not only get this bulletin, but you should’ve already received an exclusive invitation to our forthcoming labour seminar. We’ve doubled your benefits this week, and will continue to do so leading up to the big event so make sure you’re close to your inbox. If you’d like more information RIGHT NOW, email TracyKing@fsp.co.za.
The Post Office strike has also (thankfully) ended so if you’ve been waiting for anything from us, it should now be winging its way to you.
Onto other matters…
There’s a good chance the new draft Construction Regulations will be passed by the end of this year. As you saw from last week’s bulletin, we desperately need them to further enforce protection for workers in this industry. That’s not to say there‘s no protection now. There is... like this useful little checklist. It helps you ensure your risk assessment has no gaps:
Does your risk assessment have the following?
| √ | X | |
| Contractor requires risk assessment by competent person appointed in writing. The risk assessment includes: |
||
| - Identifying risks and hazards | ||
| - Analysing and evaluating same | ||
| - Producing documented plan of procedures to mitigate or remove | ||
| - Monitoring plan | ||
| - Review plan | ||
| Assessment available on site | ||
| Contractor consults/reviews with health and safety committee/ employees | ||

If you use this checklist, your risk assessments will never be lacking!
