The Post Office strike has also (thankfully) ended so if you’ve been waiting for anything from us, it should now be winging its way to you.

Onto other matters…

There’s a good chance the new draft Construction Regulations will be passed by the end of this year. As you saw from last week’s bulletin, we desperately need them to further enforce protection for workers in this industry. That’s not to say there‘s no protection now.  There is... like this useful little checklist. It helps you ensure your risk assessment has no gaps:

Does your risk assessment have the following?

      √     X
Contractor requires risk assessment by competent person appointed in writing. The risk assessment includes: 
   
-    Identifying risks and hazards      
-    Analysing and evaluating same     
-    Producing documented plan of procedures to mitigate or remove    
-    Monitoring plan     
-    Review plan    
Assessment available on site    
Contractor consults/reviews with health and safety committee/ employees      
All employees instructed and trained by competent person (induction and periodic)          
Principal contractor informs contractors of risks      
Assessment includes ergonomics    
Control of persons to site implemented – visitor and employee training    
Protective equipment and clothing for all on site     
Proof of training carried by employee     

  
If you use this checklist, your risk assessments will never be lacking!
