Tea isn’t just a drink.

It’s also good for your health… Good for your heart… And good for your mood.

But that’s not all tea is good for – it can also help you lose weight, give you great skin, help you grow the perfect lawn and so much more…

Today, I’m going to give you a dozen ingenious uses for tea you’ve probably never ever thought of…

Tea – a health phenomenon!

#1: Curb your chocolate or snack habit with a cuppa. Every time you feel hungry and reach for a snack, pop the kettle on instead. Tea contains no calories – unless, of course, you load it with sugar. If you like milk in your tea, use semi-skimmed milk – it only contains 10 to 15 calories. How will this help you lose weight? Well not only will the tea fill your stomach, it’ll satisfy your cravings too.

#2: Better than expensive face creams - ALL for the cost of a tea bag. EGCG, the major polyphenol contained in tea, is brilliant at reactivating dying skin cells. And that’s not all. Tea also contains vitamin B2, which has a stimulating effect on skin – making it brighter and more resilient. For the best result, dab cooled strong green tea on your face and leave for a few minutes before rinsing.

#3: For fresh-smelling feet, use a tea foot soak. Tea is a natural astringent and the tannic acid helps kill odour-causing bacteria. Soak your feet in strong black tea for 30 minutes a day and you’ll soon notice a difference.

#4: Soothe sunburn! If you’ve enjoyed the warm weather too much and have a painful sunburn to show for it, simply make some strong tea and let it cool. Then, dip a facecloth in the cooled tea and apply to the affected area. Repeat as necessary. The tea will bring comforting relief, reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Tip: The stronger you brew the tea, the better this works.

#5: Remove bee stings and soothe insect bites? Apply a cold wet tea bag to the site of the swelling. The tannic acid in the tea will relieve the pain and also draw the stinger to the surface of the skin making it easier to remove.

#6: After a tooth extraction, use a tea bag to stop the bleeding. Dip the bag in boiling water, squeeze it out and allow it to cool. Then pack the tea bag down into the tooth socket for 15 to 30 minutes. The tannic acid in the tea bag helps to form a clot by contracting bleeding vessels.

Ingenious uses in your home…

#7: Keep your fridge odour-free! You don’t have to buy a box of baking soda just to get rid of the odours in your fridge. A brewed tea bag will do the same thing and can easily be replaced.

#8: Bring the colours back in your carpet – and keep it smelling fresh as well. Mix tea with salt and bicarbonate of soda and sprinkle all over your carpet. Leave for half an hour then vacuum it up.

#9: The best ever mirror polish for less than 10c! Make your mirrors sparkle and shine by using cooled, twice-brewed tea as a cleaner. Just dip a soft cloth in the tea and use it to wipe away dirt and grime and then buff dry.

Want a great garden? Brew a pot of tea…

# 10: Patch up holes in your lawn with a tea bag. Pop a wet bag in the hole and sprinkle with grass seeds. The bag will keep moist and then slowly decompose as the grass becomes part of your lawn.

#11: Give your roses a new lease of life. Roses love the tannic acid in tea – especially when they’re beginning to flag at the height of the summer. If these plants are starting to look a little lack-lustre, watering them with cooled, twice-brewed tea will set them on the path to recovery!

#12: Keep potted plants moist. When potting plants, add a few used tea bags above the drainage layer before you add the soil. The tea bags help retain moisture and add nutrients to the soil, which will help your plants grow and grow.
