Go on... Have another glass...

Dear Healthy Friend,

It's become a favourite joke at dinner parties: "Another glass? Sure. But only because it's good for my heart." Yes, when the news of resveratrol's heart-healthy benefits came out, the red wine started to flow a little more freely and with a little less guilt.

But now new research is giving us even more excuses... Umm, I mean reasons... To pour another glass.

In the name of good health,

Resveratrol may help prevent age-related macular degeneration
Jenny Thompson
Director, Health Sciences Institute

Resveratrol's heart-healthy benefits are due mostly to improved circulation. And that improvement may also help you avoid one of the most common sources of vision loss: Age- related macular degeneration (AMD).

There are two varieties of age-related macular degeneration: Dry and wet. You don't want either, but you especially don't want wet, which progresses faster and creates a much higher risk of vision loss.

In wet AMD, the retina is damaged by tiny blood vessels that develop behind it - a process called angiogenesis.

Researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis wondered if resveratrol might inhibit angiogenesis. They began by using a laser to prompt micro-capillary formation in the eyes of mice.

Then, when they fed the mice resveratrol, two things happened: Micro-capillary formation was inhibited and blood vessels that had already formed were diminished.

Of course, more research is needed before we can say resveratrol has the same effect on humans with AMD. Hopefully that will prove to be the case because angiogenesis also plays a role in diabetic retinopathy (another common cause of vision loss), heart disease and cancer tumour growth.

With potential benefits like that, all I can say is: "Pour me another glass!"

And, if red wine doesn't have you raising your glass, try blueberries and peanuts - both are excellent sources of resveratrol.

Sneeze  your way out of cancer...

Bear this in mind as you struggle with hay fever symptoms now that the pollen season is in full swing...

According to researchers, allergy sufferers are far less likely to contract cancer than non-sufferers.

US researchers from Texas Tech University believe that allergic reactions stimulate the immune system, helping to ward off other potentially fatal conditions. They found that asthmatics were 30% less likely to get ovarian cancer than others and children with allergies to airborne substances were 40% less likely to develop leukaemia than other youngsters. Doctors at Cornell University in America, found children with airborne allergies also had reduced rates of throat, skin, lung and intestinal cancer.

While it may be good for your cancer-fighting abilities... Allergies and hay fever are never pleasant for the person suffering from them, but now you could find relief in a little ceramic device, called The Salt Pipe...

It is an all-natural remedy for asthma, hay fever, snoring, chronic coughs and a host of other breathing problems.

It's simple. You breathe for 15 minutes each day through a small porcelain pipe. Inside the pipe is 'halit salt crystals' from the Transylvanian Praid Salt Mine in Romania - a region long-known for its healing salt therapy.

As you inhale through the saltpipe, the air absorbs tiny salt particles. This helps clean your air passages of impurities. You'll notice the difference in two weeks, guaranteed.

Breathe easier starting today, order now.
