Dear reader,

Hello to you, and thank you to Nadia for the warm welcome last week.

I have a question for YOU!

It may seem a little cheeky to do this, in my first week on the job, but I have a question for you.

Later this year, we’ll be bringing subscribers of the Health and Safety Advisor Handbook a special update. We’re going to be publishing an update made up entirely of the questions YOU have asked us.

For this to be a complete success, I’m going to need your help. I’d like you to send me an email at safety@fsp.co.za. In it, I would like every single question you have related to health and safety at your workplace.

Greedy and vague? That’s okay!

It doesn’t matter if you have two, or 10 questions, we want them all! If you can’t think of specific questions, but have a lot of queries concerning a particular topic (e.g. scaffolding), let us know those too.

We’ll put them all in the update, and include your details. Call it your 15 lines of fame...

Economy in free fall

I’m going to end off this bulletin with some distressing news I read in the Business Report last Wednesday.

According to National Treasury, manufacturing has dropped production by 22.1%, and mining by a staggering 33%!

Add fuel to the fire...

Statistics like these (and reports such as the 12 mining deaths which occurred last week) highlight the necessity to take responsibility for our actions. By maintaining high standards of safety, we can prevent the unnecessary closure of our businesses through negligent practices.

In the name of safety,
