Laughter really could be the best medicine - for your heart

Dear Healthy Friend,
Winter's in the process of setting in and, I don't know about you, but the thought of hot curries and decadent soups brings warming thoughts my way! I shouldn't worry about gaining a few kilos during the cold season, 'cause I'll lose it for summer... Right? Apparently having to "lose" the weight isn't the only thing I'll have to worry about losing for the extra killer kilos...
Keep reading... Before you lose your mind!

Lose weight, get your memory back!

Have you found that you don't remember quite as well as you used to?
You're not alone... But if you've packed on the kilos over the years, the cause of your memory loss might not be in your brain.
It could actually be in your belly.
A new study finds that weight loss can lead to significant and even dramatic improvements in memory, proving once again that the same junk foods that cause bellies to swell can actually starve the mind.
Researchers tested the memory and attention spans of 150 overweight people with an average weight of 136kgs, including 109 who were scheduled for bariatric surgery (such as gastric bypass and gastric banding).
The remaining 41 served as a control group.
At the start of the study, the researchers found that 23.9% of all patients had impaired learning and 22.9% had poor recognition memory - or the ability to recognise things learned or encountered before.
The researchers repeated the tests 12 weeks after gastric bypass surgery, which helped those patients lose an average of 22.5kgs and found significant improvements in both memory and concentration.
Those who didn't have the surgery, on the other hand, didn't improve at all.
The researchers say they believe the surgery alone probably wasn't the reason for the improvement - just the loss of weight. They say other overweight people might see these same changes if they'd just drop between 9 and 11 kilos, even without surgery.
And if you've packed on the kilos over the years, take that advice now - because the memory problems linked to big bellies could lead to more severe problems down the road.
A 2009 study found that women with the biggest waistlines had double the dementia risk of those with normal middles. And a study the year before found that men and women with the highest levels of abdominal fat had up to three times the risk of developing dementia as those with the lowest levels.
That's in addition to the other risks of obesity - including diabetes, heart disease, cancer, depression sleep apnea, early death and more.
Don't wait for the damage to be permanent - if you're overweight, get started today... Before you forget everything you just read.

Busting bursitis
"Good day.
Just a short (but important testimony)
There was an article relating to Bursitis and taking vit.B Co. injections daily for a few weeks.
I idly read through this article and right at the bottom I noticed that you can get bursitis in your feet as well.
My radar honed in on that because I had been suffering from chronic pains in my foot for years and years and could hardly walk in the supermarket without ending up limping badly. The burning was so bad that even a light duvet on my feet caused pain at night.
I thought I was going to end up a cripple as it was getting worse and worse.
The doctor sent me for X-Rays and they called me in to say they could find nothing wrong with my foot. I went to a Podiatrist who made inserts (did not help), but she also mentioned that I may want to take some vit. B supplements.
I started a course of vit. B. injections (weekly) as I could not get anyone to give it to me daily and after about 3 months I noticed the pain was less and less and now I can walk again without limping.
It is like a miracle!
I still have to be careful not to pick up anything heavy (like my grandson) or else it can flare up again – but I now know what the solution is.
If it had not been for that article I would be in a dreadful state as I now believe that it must have been Bursitis in my foot which is the last thing the doctors would have looked for.
Thank you for that article. It was a real blessing to me and I am so very grateful.
Regards
H.H"
