- A SHE File and a SHE Plan are NOT the same thing!
- 14 must-haves for your SHE File
Dear reader,
A happy new year to you, and all the very best for 2010. As the newspapers have been proclaiming, this is our country’s year, and I believe that extends to all of us as individuals. For this to happen, we need to strive to be the very best in our field, and this means ensuring we minimise the possibility for error!
A SHE File and a SHE Plan are NOT the same thing!
It’s understandable to assume that a She File and a SHE Plan are one and the same thing, but it’s not entirely excusable, as this leads to mistakes.
The SHE Plan forms part of the SHE File, and the content of each is therefore completely different.
14 must-haves for your SHE File
Your SHE File should include the 14 following elements (13 if you’re not involved in mining). Remember: these are only a guideline:
1. Planning
2. General administration requirements
3. Appointment documents
4. Risk assessments
5. Training information
6. Health and safety committee information
7. Registers
8. Hazardous substances
9. Road management
10. Incident management
11. Emergency planning
12. Contractors and subcontractors
13. Audit checklist
14. Mine health and safety requirements
In the name of safety,
