The reason our hair goes grey is that we don’t produce as much of the protein melanin as we age.

Melanin is actually black in colour – and everyone, including blonde people produce melanin.

Get rid of your greys without the chemical dyes…

Boil ½ litre of water and add two teaspoonfuls of sage (chia) as well as a pinch of rosemary. Allow to cool and drain the water. Apply the mixture to your hair after shampooing. Gradually you’ll notice your hair will regain its natural colour.

Remove chewing gum from your children’s’ hair - as easy as 1-2-3!

When your children get gum stuck in their hair, don’t cut it! As crazy as this sounds, rub the gum with smooth peanut butter!

It destroys the gum’s bonding ability. You should be able to remove it quite easily then with your fingers.

How to remove stubborn oil stains from your garage floor…

To remove old oil stains you need to draw the oil out of the concrete, break down its structure, and absorb it into a material that you can dispose of. Got that? Here’s how you do it…

First, dust the floor heavily with Fuller’s earth, garden lime or saw dust to absorb the surface oil.

Leave it to soak up the oil for a day or two, then remove the debris with a spade, or brush and pan.

Then, put on some heavy duty gloves, because you’ll be working with a hazardous chemical.

Now mix a litre of water with some Fuller’s earth or garden lime to make a paste. Add 120mls of trisodium phosphate (TSP) and mix into the paste.

Spread the paste over the stain and leave it overnight until the paste is totally dry. Then remove the dried paste with a spade and stiff brush and hose the area well.

Just to make sure, in case you haven’t got rid of all the TSP, neutralise it by dusting some baking soda over the area.

Repeat this until the stain in completely gone.
