Use these 4 exercises to transform yourself from someone who’s always right to someone who’s ready to learn new things...
It can be very satisfying to be right. You stay who you are and feel comfortable. But to be wrong and to learn something new from that experience can transform you into an even better person.
Each time someone or something proves you wrong, you have the opportunity to learn something new, to advance yourself, and to bring yourself that much closer to success.
Even if you’re right most of the time, accepting that the other person might be right can open your mind up to possibilities you never considered before.
Become more popular, successful, and happier...
1. Use the maybe trick:
Get used to using the following sentence every time you hear someone voice an opinion that’s different from yours: “Maybe you’re right.”
By using this simple phrase, you haven’t admitted you’re wrong but you’ve opened up the lines of communication between yourself and others and proved that you’re open to new and different ideas.
2. Be happy to learn:
When you encounter something new, tell yourself (and those around you), “Wow, I didn’t know that!”
3. Walk in someone else’s shoes:
Whenever someone says something you disagree with, take a second to pretend you’re that person. Why would he choose to believe what he does?
Why would he think his opinion is right instead of yours? You may be surprised at how revealing this exercise can be. It can open you up to whole new way of thinking...
4. Invite criticism:
Encourage the people around you to challenge your ideas and decisions. The power of critique is amazing. It promotes debate and is more conducive to finding the best way forward.
Being wrong sometimes has its advantages. It could open up a new world of opportunity for you…
